Who it is for
Anyone who gets back into the car in a worse state than they got out of it. Straight from the gym or open mat, soaked through. Back from a run, a surf or a day on the beach with sand in everything. Off a muddy trail or a long ride. And the dog, who never cleans up before getting in either.
Leave it on the seat all week, or roll it up in the kit bag and pull it on when you need it.
What it is made of
The face is bamboo microfibre towelling. It is softer than the rough towelling on a gym towel, closer to a microfibre cloth, and it is absorbent enough to take sweat and water off you.
Underneath is a PUL backing. PUL is fabric laminated to a thin waterproof film. The towelling takes the water and the film stops it going any further, so it does not reach the upholstery.
The edges are bound in stretch polyester. The logo is embroidered, not printed, so there is nothing to crack or peel in the wash. The whole thing weighs about 500 g.
How it fits
One size. A deep pocket at the top slips over the headrest and runs slightly over the shoulders of the seat. That is what stops it bunching in the middle when you get in and out. No clips, no straps.
It is made for front seats with an adjustable headrest. It may work on a single rear seat with a suitable headrest, but it is not a rear bench cover. Not sure about your car? Send a photo of the seat on WhatsApp and you will get a straight answer before you pay.
Washing it
Machine wash at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. No bleach, no fabric softener. Air dry. Do not iron it, and keep it out of a hot tumble dryer. Heat is what damages the waterproof backing.
Why R950
Generic towel seat covers sell for a few hundred rand. Most are ordinary towelling with nothing behind it, so once they are wet, so is your seat.
