Privacy policy
What we collect, why we have it, and who else sees it. It is a short list.
Plain version. This site has no shopping cart, no accounts and no tracking. It does not set cookies and it does not run analytics. Nothing you type goes into it, because there is nothing to type into. We only get your details when you message us to order, and we use them to make and deliver your order.
1. Who we are
Rawdog Towels (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for the personal information described here, as that term is used in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Contact details are at the bottom of this page.
2. What this website collects
This site is a set of static pages. It has no cart, no checkout, no login and no contact form. It sets no cookies of its own, stores nothing in your browser and runs no analytics or advertising trackers.
Two things still happen when a browser loads any website, and they happen here:
- Our host keeps server logs. Standard web server records, which include your IP address, the time of the request and your browser type. They exist to keep the site running and secure.
- Fonts load from Google. The page uses Google Fonts, so your browser requests the font files from Google servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. This is handled under Google’s own privacy terms.
The buttons on this page open WhatsApp, Instagram or your email app. Once you are in one of those, that provider’s privacy policy applies to what happens there, not this one.
3. What we collect when you order
Orders happen over WhatsApp, so we collect only what is needed to fulfil one:
- your name and the phone number you message us from;
- the delivery address you give us;
- your email address, if you give us one;
- the details of your order, including colour and quantity; and
- your proof of payment, which shows the paying account name and the reference.
We do not ask for and do not store your card number, your PIN or your online banking login. If you pay by card link, the payment provider handles the card details and we never see them.
4. Why we use it
- To make, pack and deliver your order.
- To answer your questions and sort out problems, returns or exchanges.
- To keep the accounting and tax records the law requires us to keep.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not add you to a marketing list off the back of an order, and we do not use your details for advertising.
5. Who else sees it
- The courier. Bob Go receives your name, delivery address and phone number so it can deliver your parcel.
- Our bank, and the payment provider if you pay by card link. They process the payment.
- Our accountant, and SARS. Where the records are needed for tax.
- Anyone the law requires. Where we are obliged to disclose.
That is the whole list. Nobody else gets it.
6. Where it is kept, and for how long
Order records sit in the WhatsApp conversation, in our email and in our accounting records. We keep them for as long as we need them for the order, for any returns period, and for the period the tax and companies legislation requires, which is generally five years. After that we delete or archive them.
Some of these services store data outside South Africa. Where that happens, POPIA’s conditions on transferring personal information out of the country apply.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. No method of storing or sending information is perfectly secure, so please do not send us anything sensitive, such as a full banking login or an ID document, unless we have asked you for it and explained why.
8. Your rights under POPIA
You may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete information we no longer have a reason to keep; or
- stop using your information for a particular purpose.
Message or email us and we will deal with it. We may need to confirm who you are first. If you are not happy with how we handled it, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
9. Children
This is not a product aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information about them. If you believe we hold information about a child, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, the date at the top of this page changes and the new version is posted here.
